Funding

Whole Foods Market

The Animal Compassion Foundation was initially funded with a grant of $550,000 from Whole Foods Market. This "seed money" came from a Global 5% Day held on January 26th, 2005. On that day, five percent of all customer purchases from every Whole Foods Market in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom was set aside to establish the Foundation.

A second Global 5% Day was held on January 24th, 2006, giving the Foundation an additional $650,000 with which to pursue its goals. All money collected from these Global 5% Days is dedicated solely to research projects and on-farm studies. None of the funds raised is used for administrative purposes.

Going forward, Whole Foods Market is committed to the financial support of the Animal Compassion Foundation. Though not currently available, we anticipate the future opportunity for individuals to make personal donations to help fund the Foundation's work.
